Yesterday I showed you a mock-up of a sample Home Search Page from a Real Estate site. In my opinion, one of the most common problems with most real estate websites is a lack of focus. In this video, I walk you through that sample Home Search Page and the changes I’d make to it (based on your feedback as well) to give the page design a little more clarity and focus. By removing elements, reworking the layout and adding some basic copy, you can really hone in and drive visitors exactly where you want them to go and take action on what you want them to do.
Here’s the video:

What do you think? Does this give you some ideas on how you can improve your own page design?

Great “How to” video Ricardo. I had been playing with it for a while and I am very happy to see that “less is better”. So many times we get caught up in the “PERFECT” layout when in reality there is no such thing. It is all about the simplicity for the consumer to find what they need and not what we want to show them.

Thanks Michael! And you're right…too often we get caught up in what we “think” is important and flood our sites with this and that. When really all we're doing is adding clutter.
Hopefully this video gives you some ideas on how adding/removing or reworking elements can help you hone in on the page's intent. What action do you want site visitors to take and is that clear based on your existing layout? If not, how can you improve it?
Like you said: “It is all about the simplicity for the consumer to find what they need and not what we want to show them.”
Thanks for the comment amigo!

Agreed.

The Search Page serves a single purpose: allow consumers to search for homes.
So, good recommendation from you to remove the sidebar and use a full-width page template for that page. All the other elements aren't all that necessary.
