We all have lofty goals we’ve set out to accomplish throughout the course of the year.
When you’re a real estate agent (or entrepreneur), you’ve got a lot of balls in the air. You’re constantly marketing to drum up new business. You’re managing deals through escrow. You’re managing client relationships.
It’s easy to get overwhelmed.
For example, you know you should probably setup your Google My Business page. You know you should probably edit/redo your website. You know you should probably get setup on that new CRM system your broker’s been talking about.
But there’s so many things to do … where should you start?
Part of my job every day is helping agents work through the overwhelm. By coaching them through the process and helping guide them in the right direction.
Today out in the field, we were talking about Google My Business, your Zillow profile, and your overall digital footprint. Sounds like a lot to cover in an hour, right?
Here’s was my advice to everyone and a simple strategy for accomplishing your goals:
- Define an outcome (what is it that you’d like to accomplish?)
- Think of ONE thing you can do right now to make progress towards that outcome.
- Do that one thing right now (don’t put it off).
- Repeat steps 2 & 3 daily until you hit your goal.
Have you ever heard the phrase: How do you eat an elephant? The answer is, one bite at a time.
It’s the same with your marketing. If all you’re doing is thinking about the long list of things you have to do, the overwhelm creeps and you don’t really move forward on anything.
If you break things down into manageable and actionable steps, that’s when you start to make progress and really implement.
